Our Work
Connecting health across sectors and territories
OHH-WIO organizes its work around five mutually reinforcing areas. They are not separate silos: each initiative may combine several areas depending on the challenge, place, and partners involved.
Ecosystem Health & Conservation
Potential actions include biodiversity and ecosystem-health assessment; conservation medicine; ecological restoration; pollution and climate-risk analysis; sustainable water and natural-resource management; and integrated approaches spanning watersheds, coasts and marine environments.
Prevention, Resilience & Health Security
Potential actions include zoonotic-disease prevention, antimicrobial-resistance initiatives, food and water safety, biosafety, integrated risk assessment, community early-warning approaches, and preparedness for health and environmental emergencies.
Knowledge, Data & Innovation
Potential actions include applied and transdisciplinary research, molecular diagnostics, integrated surveillance, citizen science, interoperable information systems, responsible data sharing, knowledge management, and tools that strengthen the science–policy interface.
Communities, Equity & Territories
Potential actions include participatory assessment, environmental and health education, locally led conservation, inclusion of vulnerable groups, behavior-change approaches, sustainable livelihoods, and the integration of local and scientific knowledge.
Capacity, Policy & Partnerships
Potential actions include One Health training, leadership development, institutional support, multisectoral coordination, policy analysis, evidence synthesis and translation, stakeholder dialogue, evidence-based advocacy, program design, monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilization, and sustainable financing.
Science-policy interface
OHH-WIO can convene researchers, public institutions, communities and technical partners around shared questions; translate interdisciplinary findings into accessible policy options; bring implementation experience back into research agendas; and support transparent follow-up from commitments to budgets, regulations, programs and measurable results.
